It is very important that your chainsaw is in good condition. Both for your own safety and the safety of the chainsaw. But when do you know when your chainsaw needs servicing? And what exactly happens during a servicing?
When chainsaw maintenance
Do you notice that you have to apply a lot of extra pressure on the saw when using it? Then it is time to service the chainsaw. Other signs are:
- The cut no longer runs in both directions
- If the chainsaw starts smoking during operation
- The saw gives a lot of back pressure and counter sputtering noises
- Fine sawdust is created during sawing, instead of larger wood chips
- And of course if the chainsaw stops working altogether
What do we do during chainsaw maintenance
We start by identifying the problem. Based on that, there are a number of steps we take:
- We start by cleaning and lubricating the chainsaw
- We sharpen the chain
- The saw chain is tensioned
- Finally, we check whether the depth limiter is set correctly
Types of chainsaws
Of course, there are various types of chainsaws and they have different maintenance processes. There are obviously electric chainsaws, but petrol-powered chainsaws are also common. Proper fuel, for example, is very important with the second chainsaw.
G&G Green Tech prefers Shindaiwa, a high-quality Japanese product, but can repair any chainsaw from the likes of Dolmar, Stihl, Bosch and many others.
