July: this is what to do in your garden this month

July is the month to get to work in the garden. In most cases, the weather is pleasant for gardening. In addition, your garden certainly needs some maintenance in this summer month. We give you an overview of garden work that needs to be done in July.

Pruning

In July, it is time to remove spent plants from the garden and cut off the necessary twigs. Several pruning jobs are scheduled during this month. The plants go through a growth spurt after 21 June, the longest day of the year. Much pruning is therefore already done in June, before this specific day. In July, it is important to keep up pruning. It is best to prune on a cloudy day or in the evening. This prevents dehydration and/or sunburn.

Removing dirt from the garden

It is good to clear the garden of all dirt. Sweep the paving well to prevent weeds and remove any weeds that have emerged. Make sure all leaves are removed from the garden. You can use a leaf blower for this, if required. By cleaning the garden properly, you will prevent excessive formation of weeds in the future.

Maintaining and watering your lawn properly

It is advisable not to cut your lawn too short in July, especially when the weather is dry and quite warm. The time of grass cutting is also important for maintaining the quality of your lawn. It is advisable to mow in the evenings, when the greatest heat from the sun has already disappeared. You do not need to mow daily during this month. In many cases, once a week or at most twice a week is sufficient. Regular long-term watering of your lawn and borders will also ensure a green lawn and a colourful garden.
